An Act to Remember
My heart
Is an acrobat
Tonight.
An entire three-ring circus
Contained in one
Beating form.
Watch
As it begins to juggle
Five, now eight,
Now twelve.
The crowd is amazed.
The contortionist
Twists in ways
Unimaginable to most.
The onlookers cringe
In pain and disbelief.
Over there
Climbing into…
Is that a cannon?
With an explosion
The body flies through the air
Spinning , soaring
Falling. Landing.
Look up!
The trapeze begins to swing,
The artist flying and twirling.
A final release
Dazzling flips and spins,
But the grasp slips
The artist falls
The onlookers sit on edge,
Left breathless.
Except the only spectator
Is me.
And it isn’t so fun
When you can’t breathe.

Re: An Act to Remember
yeah, i reallllly do like this one. the last line brings it together so well. oh, and the shape of it really helps to further the feeling that the narrator is sorta on the edge of their seat. very cool.
